Walt Barry has a varied and interesting career as a photographer. His eye for detail, his perception and communication through the visual media is outstanding and in growing demand.

Starting in 1985, Walt began his photography career capturing memories at various weddings, Senior photos, and personal business headshots.

However, Walt’s passion for photography has blossomed in the high pressured, professional sports arena: namely the PGA, Nascar Racing, MLB, NHL and both  NFL and NCAA Football.

From Masters Tournaments to Byron Nelson, Pebble Peach to the Players Championship, Walt has traveled all over the United States covering top names in the Golf world.

Auto Racing, with all of its fast paced, action-filled moments, he has covered inChicago, IL; Las Vegas, NV; Sonoma, CA; Bristol, TN; Kansas City, KS; including the famous race tracks at Michigan, Phoenix, Atlanta, Indianapolis Brickyard 400. He has also had the pleasure of shooting the Indy Daytona 500. While a staunch Minnesota Twins fan, Walt has had the pleasure and honor of capturing many American and National baseball teams in action. This includes teams in Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Saint Louis, Cincinnati and Milwaukee.

As a true Minnesotan, Walt has had ring side access to the Minnesota Golden Gopher and Minnesota Wild Hockey teams. In addition, he has covered NHL Hockey teams in Chicago, Detroit, New York, Vancouver, Toronto and Dallas, and has provided many photos for the US Hockey Hall of Fame.

For the past twenty years, Walt has provided his photos for the Viking Update paper and the Twin Cities newspaper. He has also covered the NFL teams in Green Bay, Chicago, and Oakland, as well as the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Walt’s camera and talent is not limited to sports. He has had the honor of taking photographs of many top dignitaries such as President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. He was the only photographer allowed to take photos of Nelson Mandela on his trip to Minnesota. He has provided photos for Mayor Norm Coleman.

He has covered national events such as the 2008 Republican National Convention and subsequent protest marches, not to mention Car Craft Finals and the Minnesota Polo Classic.

Walt has been invited to shoot the Minnesota Minute Men, Mr. Hockey, Mr. Baseball/Ms. Softball, Lacrosse and various Actors/Singers and Models. His passion and dedication to his profession is honest and true. When Walt takes on a job, you can be assured he is constantly bringing his “A” game to the shutter.
